National Shrine of the Little Flower

Saint Therese “The Little Flower” Her thoughts and words about…Love of God

I know of one means only by which to attain to perfection:

LOVE

Let us love, since our heart is made for nothing else. Sometimes I seek another word to express Love, but in this land of exile the word which begins and ends (St. Augustine) is quite incapable of rendering the vibrations of the soul; we must then adhere to this simple and only word:

TO LOVE

But on whom shall our poor heart lavish its love? Who shall be found that is great enough to be the recipient of its treasures? Will a human being know how to comprehend them, and above all will he be able to repay? There exists but one Being capable of comprehending love; it is Jesus; He alone can give us back infinitely more than we shall ever give to him.

Child’s Prayer

Lord in heaven,
please listen to all those
who are praying to you now.

Those who are sad and crying,
those who have lost friends and family.

Those who are alone
and frightened.

Help them to remember,
that you are there
and you are listening.

In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.

    Weathering the Storm: A Prayer

    Father God,
    Today I am afraid.
I look around me at this world that is changing so fast and I feel lost like a small boat in the midst of a storm.
I am not built to weather the battering waves or the howling wind.

So I wait now in your presence.
You spoke the oceans and the four winds into being.
You threw the stars in the sky and separated the sea from dry land.

You took the hand of Peter who was sinking into the depths of the water and walked him to safety.
I choose now to fix my eyes on you and not on the storm.

I settle my heart on your love and not on the current that threatens to pull me under.

Thank you that you are my firm anchor even through the darkest night,
    Amen

Joel Osteen’s Fourth of July Message

On this beautiful Sunday “Joel Osteen’s 4th of July Message” is a repeat titled You Are Blessed and Cannot Be Cursed! Clicking the link will take you to my notes and what I wrote the last time I watched and listened to his broadcast.

This is the information from This Week’s Message page about today’s broadcast titled You Are Blessed and Cannot Be Cursed by Joel Osteen:

You are a person of destiny. Before you were even born, God already had a purpose and plan for your life. A lot of people think that because of the way they were raised, the environment they are from, or what they've done in their past disqualifies them from God's blessings and are unable to move forward into their destiny. But understand, your past and heredity cannot stop you from God's blessings and destiny; God's blessings and calling override any curse. You may not be able to choose where you were born or how you were raised, but you can choose to walk in God's blessings and fulfill your God-given purpose. What God has blessed, no person can curse. When you understand God's great love for you and that nothing has the power to stop His plan for your life, there is real freedom!

My God Bless America on this 4th of July Sunday and always!

Good Friday: Stations of the Cross

    Stations of the Cross
    Opening Prayer:
Mercifully assist me, O Lord God of my salvation, that I may remember with joy the mighty acts whereby you have given me life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
    First Station:
Almighty God, your Son our Savior suffered at the hands of sinners and endured the shame of the cross. Grant that we may walk in the way of his cross and find it the way of life and peace; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
    Second Station:
Almighty God, whose beloved Son willingly endured the agony and shame of the cross for our redemption: Give us courage to take up our cross and follow him; who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.
    Third Station:
Heavenly Father, whose blessed Son came not to be served but to serve: Bless all who, following in his steps, give themselves to the service of others; that with wisdom, patience, and courage, they may minister in his name to the suffering, the friendless, and the needy; for the love of him who laid down his life for us, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
    Fourth Station:
Teach your church, O Lord, to mourn the sins of which it is guilty, and to repent and forsake them; that, by your pardoning grace, the results of our iniquities may not be visited upon our children and our children's children; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
    Fifth Station:
O God, your Son chose the path which led to pain before joy and the cross before glory. Plant his cross in our hearts, so that in its power and love we may come at last to joy and glory; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
    Sixth Station:
O God, your Son chose the path which led to pain before joy and the cross before glory. Plant his cross in our hearts, so that in its power and love we may come at last to joy and glory; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
    Seventh Station:
O God, you have your only Son to suffer death o the cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin, so that we may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection; who lives and reigns now and forever. Amen.
    Eighth Station:
    Prayer:
O God, your blessed Son was laid in a tomb in a garden, and rested on the Sabbath day. Grant that we who have been buried with him in the waters of baptism may find our perfect rest in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

This is from last year’s entry titled The Passion on Good Friday!:

These are my previous posts on Good Friday 2007 and in 2008 Good Friday! And I also like this Saint Gregory's Easter Prayer, but I find today a very humbling experience. To think:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

This is what I said in Prayer for Trust in Jesus,

“Jesus gave up His life for our sins; it is the least we can do is trust in Him!”

I could go on and on with trying to convey my thoughts and feelings today. Never really feeling like I’ve accomplished telling you exactly what this day makes me feel like. In conclusion:

Be Blessed with Love, Hope, Joy, Peace and Happiness to you and yours on this Good Friday!
